Thread: Footswitch Not Working Out Of The Box. Please Help!!

  1. Default Footswitch Not Working Out Of The Box. Please Help!!

I bought my CLX head brand new about 2 weeks ago. The footswitch was completely wrapped up as if it was never opened at the store. I plugged it in only the Boost light turns on. Hitting the other buttons does nothing. In fact, the amp doesn't respond at all no matter what. I've tried contacting VHT by phone and by e-mail 2 times now with no answer.

Any suggestions on what I can do?? I have to have an amp with a workign footswitch. So far, it is a terrific amp but I got to have this working. I expect it to when I pay $2,500+ for a new amp.

Did you check the basics like making sure the correct buttons on the back of the amp were engaged?

Make sure the boost, effects loop and EQ buttons are out, I think, and that the amp starts with no channel switches engaged.

(Channelswitch Engage? Where have I heard that...)

I have a Classic which is basically the same amp as yours;I gig with it every week so my settings on the amp are:EQ,loop and channel push buttons out; boosts , all in.The 3 rocker switch on the footswitch should be set as desired for channel EQ function. Also make sure the 5 pin connection is all the way in and straight, as these were not the most reliable connections out there.

I did this and I'm still having a difficult time with the Lead channel. Could it be a problem with the 5 pin?

Could be... did you wiggle the thing around while trying to switch? You should try to spray some cleaner on it , see if it makes a difference. Also check the cable for cuts and such.If the thing still flickers, I would say your problem is with the footswitch...

I had the same issue with the lead channel. You need a new button switch. It's easy to replace yourself, should take about 15 mins.
