View Full Version : DR Strings Extra Black Coated Review : No Good

Hello :-D

Before a gig that I have in a few days, I bought some Dr Strings Extra Black coated to have some fun :

When I received it, all is right : the coated is great and seems very heavy.
I load it on my guitar with Sperzel locking tuners, I tune it up then the 0.046 broke !

Indeed, the warp string coated left the plain string ... so nothing can prevent the break.
I pull a little the others strings to tune up, so the 0.036 broke too

I frequently use Elixir, Dean Markley, Ernie Ball or D'addario without any trouble ... the DR Extra are the only one.

I wrote 8 days ago to the Support of Dr Strings and I do not have any answer.

For me, no more Dr Strings ever  .

Thanks for warning, I was gunna try those!

Has anyone noticed a change in D'Addario strings lately? I've been noticing a weird chriping/squeeking sound when playing palm muted riffs lately, I think it's from the string scraping against the wound strings. This only started happening a couple of months ago. I've tried different amps, guitars, picks, etc. The only thing I haven't tried changing yet is the brand of strings. I'm pretty sure nothing has changed in my technique. Weird.
