I posted this at HC too...
Here's the skinny....
I just scribbled something on a backing I found.
I've been trying to get a good sound recording with my new sound card, but I'm fighting it...LOL
This clip is recorded with an E609.
EBMM Steve Morse-GP3 preamp-G Force in parallel-VHT 2/90/2- VHT 4x12.
It was at whisper volume, but I still managed to get some consistant digital clipping because I suck.
Please excuse the clam fest... Very sloppy playing, but I only really cared about trying to record more than playing....
Let me know what you think.....
Steve

The GP3 settings were:
Rhythm channel-
Gain- 10 O clock
Boost gain-off
Treble -10 O clock
Mids-12 O clock
Bass- 10 O clock
Bright- off
Deep- off
High gain-off
EQ- off
At about 1:44, I hit a MI Audio Blue boy with level at 12 O clock
Tone at 12 O clock
Gain at 9 O clock

It sounds good. What pickups and software were you using, if I may ask?

Funny you should ask...
The pups are JB in the neck for most of it, and a SH4 in the bridge for the later part...
I actually used Acid 5.0 to record that. It was a simple one take.
I didn't bother to edit or add any plug ins because I was getting such a good hot signal from just the mic pre's in my new sound card.
The effects you hear are just the G Force reverb and delay in parallel...

Nice Steve...

I just picked up a GP3 from a fellow member & just played it for the first time. It sounds great but still could use a kick.

Can you get the usual different flavors from changing the tubes out or in the long run, do you recommend doing this mod?

I play mainly classic 60s/70s/80s rock & I'm not a HUGE high gain guy...but it's nice to have it on tap if ya' want it

Tubes will not make a huge difference. You will notice a change in subtle nuances, but nothing major. If the gain is not in the preamp of any amp, tubes will not make it up.
The mod is simple though....
What power amp are you running with it?

I'm running it thru a 2/50/2....I put 6CA7s in ch A, running to a 4x10 & Ruby EL34s in ch B, running to a 2x12. Sounds great, but like I said, it's nice to have a little extra on tap ifyou want it.

Well, if you don't want to go through with the mod, I highly highly highly recommend Michaels pedals from MI Audio....
I used his Blue Boy at around 1:44 to give it a kick in the ass.... and the gain on the pedal was at 9:00...:D:D:D:D
